Introduction to Alfonso
Alfonso Gil is a highly accomplished dentist with an impressive academic background and extensive specialization in various fields of dentistry. He obtained his DDS Degree with the highest honors from the University of the Basque Country. Building on his passion for continuous learning, he pursued a Master of Science Degree and Advanced Periodontology-Implantology Specialization Certificate from the University of Southern California (USC) and a Specialization Certificate in Advanced Surgical Implant Dentistry from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

In 2017, Alfonso achieved the prestigious status of being Board Certified and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He further expanded his expertise through a Specialization Certificate in Prosthodontics at the University of Zurich, where he dedicated five years to advanced education in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Dental Material Sciences.
Alfonso's dedication to research and academic excellence led him to earn a PhD with the highest honor from the University International of Catalunya in 2019. His doctoral thesis project focused on three-dimensional volumetric analysis of root coverage and gingival volume gain in the treatment of multiple recession-type defects using Vestibular Incision Subperiosteal Tunnel Access (VISTA).
Notably, Alfonso serves as the Editor in Chief of the esteemed International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, starting from 2022. His research endeavors primarily revolve around soft tissue augmentation of teeth and implants, bone regeneration, and fixed implant-prosthodontics.
